Bali Unveils New Tour Itineraries Highlighting Lesser-Known Destinations for Travelers
December 3, 2025 — Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism is amplifying efforts to promote emerging and lesser-explored destinations through innovative tour itineraries that showcase the richness beyond Bali’s popular tourist hubs. While Bali remains Indonesia’s premier travel hotspot, many areas within the province remain untapped by tourism, offering fresh experiences for adventurous visitors.
The centerpiece of this initiative is the "3Bs Tour," a government-endorsed travel itinerary developed over the past two years to encourage exploration of three distinctive regions: Banyuwangi in East Java, West Bali, and North Bali. Originally pioneered by former Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno, the tour was recently revitalized under current Minister Widiyanti Wardhana to bring these hidden gems to the forefront of Indonesia’s travel offerings.
To introduce the 3Bs Tour on the international stage, Wonderful Indonesia, the national tourism board, hosted a Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) inviting seasoned travel experts from Africa, North America, Europe, and the Middle East. This global exposure aims to attract discerning tourists with high purchasing power, a key demographic targeted by the Ministry to elevate the overall quality of Indonesian tourism.
Deputy Marketing Director Ni Made Ayu Marthini emphasized the strategy to attract upscale travelers, stating, “The high-quality tourism market with high purchasing power is a very potential target to be developed, because it can encourage improvements in the quality of Indonesian tourism.” The 3Bs Tour’s marketing campaign features the hashtag #GoBeyondOrdinary, reflecting the plan to offer extraordinary travel experiences beyond Bali’s famed destinations such as Canggu, Seminyak, and Uluwatu.
The itinerary begins in Banyuwangi, East Java, welcoming visitors to Osing Kemiren Tourism Village, lauded as the Best Tourism Village by the UN Tourism Organization in 2025. Adventurous travelers can also trek up to the crater of Mount Ijen, an active volcano renowned for its mesmerizing blue flames caused by sulphur combustion. The journey continues through the lush De Djawatan Forest and the serene Boom Beach, creating a multifaceted exploration of East Java’s natural and cultural highlights.
Following this, guests experienced a luxurious transfer to West Bali aboard a private yacht from Banyuwangi International Yacht Club, emphasizing comfort and exclusivity. Once in Bali, the tour highlights local cultural experiences in North and West Bali including visits to prominent tourism villages, authentic culinary stops at local warungs featuring Buleleng Regency specialties, and stays at premier hotels in the region.
As Indonesia approaches the festive season, tourists can expect a surge in officially organized tour packages from the Ministry of Tourism, Wonderful Indonesia, and partner agencies. Minister Wardhana confirmed that over 65 tour packages covering various priority destinations have been submitted, anticipating a significant boost in visitor numbers during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The Ministry’s focus remains on ensuring these tours provide economic benefits to communities while maintaining safety and security standards.
For visitors seeking fresh inspiration to explore Indonesia, the Ministry encourages combining multiple destinations within one holiday. For instance, the Bali Beyond Beautiful tour connects travelers from Labuan Bajo to Komodo National Park before arriving in Bali, showcasing the country’s diverse attractions.
With this renewed focus on sustainable and diversified tourism, the Ministry of Tourism aims to enhance Indonesia’s appeal to sophisticated travelers eager to discover beyond the well-trodden path. Visitors can look forward to immersive, high-quality experiences that reveal the unique cultures and landscapes of Bali and its neighboring provinces.
