Five Chinese Nationals Killed and Eight Injured in Bali Minibus Crash
A tragic traffic accident in northern Bali has resulted in the deaths of five Chinese nationals, with eight others injured. The incident occurred on Friday in Buleleng regency, according to a statement from China’s consulate on the Indonesian island.
The victims were among 13 Chinese citizens traveling together in a minibus. Authorities reported that the driver, an Indonesian national, lost control of the vehicle while navigating a turn and descending a road. The minibus veered off the asphalt road and plunged into a community garden before striking a tree.
Police chief of Buleleng regency, Ida Bagus Widwan Sutadi, provided details on the cause of the accident, attributing it to the driver’s lack of caution during the turn and descent. “Due to the driver’s lack of caution when turning and descending, he veered off the asphalt road and into a community garden, causing a traffic accident,” he said.
The Indonesian driver sustained minor injuries and has since been arrested by local authorities. The accident scene was cleared on the same day, with the damaged minibus removed from the site.
This incident has prompted concerns regarding road safety for tourists in Bali, a popular destination known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Local officials and the Chinese consulate are presumably working together to provide assistance and support to the injured and the families of the victims. Further investigations into the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
