Bali Minibus Crash Claims Lives of Five Chinese Tourists
Denpasar, Indonesia – November 14, 2025 – A tragic accident on the Indonesian island of Bali resulted in the deaths of five Chinese tourists and left eight others injured, police confirmed on Friday.
The incident occurred on a curved, sloping road in the Buleleng district, located on the northern side of the popular resort island. The minibus, carrying Chinese tourists, lost control while navigating the challenging stretch of road. According to local traffic police officer Bachtiar Arifin, the vehicle veered off the road, crashing into a farm and colliding with a tree.
The victims included three women and two men, all Chinese nationals. The minibus driver and eight additional passengers suffered minor injuries. The driver reportedly was unable to maintain control of the vehicle, but the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Authorities promptly notified the Chinese consulate about the crash. Representatives from the consulate have been in contact with the families of those involved to provide assistance and support during this difficult time.
Traffic accidents resulting in fatalities are unfortunately common in Indonesia, a nation with a population of approximately 280 million. The country’s roads are often hazardous due to frequent disregard of traffic rules and poorly maintained vehicles. Recent similar tragedies include a deadly collision in August 2022 near Jakarta, where a truck struck a bus stop, killing ten people, including four children. Additionally, earlier that year, a truck accident in West Papua claimed the lives of 16 individuals.
The Bali minibus crash brings renewed attention to the safety challenges facing tourists and residents alike on Indonesian roads. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident as they work to improve road safety for all travelers on the island.
