Tourists planning to visit the renowned Pura Lempuyang in the village of Tribuana, Abang District, Karangasem Regency, Bali, should brace themselves for a change in ticket prices starting March 2024. The decision to adjust ticket rates applies to both domestic and international visitors, as well as shuttle bus fares, aligning with traditional agreements between the local community and tourism authorities.
Current Ticket Prices to Pura Lempuyang
Presently, the entrance fee for international tourists stands at IDR 55,000 per person, while domestic visitors are charged IDR 30,000 per person. Additionally, the shuttle bus fee is set at IDR 40,000. The admission ticket covers essential services such as the provision of sarongs, photography services, and guidance from local guides who accompany tourists around the site.
The Cause of Price Increase
The decision to increase ticket prices is attributed to a 10% tax imposed by the Karangasem Regency Government starting January 1, 2024. Nyoman Jati, the traditional leader of Purwayu, explains that the adjustment’s specific amount is yet to be determined pending further studies and calculations. Coordination among guides, management, and the local community is underway to ensure their continued income after the deduction of the 10% tax.
There are no exact price increase to enter yet, but based on the regulation we can see the price increase 10%.
The adjustment in ticket prices is expected to be finalized in early March, with a potential increase. Currently, Pura Lempuyang has experienced a 50% decrease in daily visitors compared to the previous year, with an average of around 500 visitors dominated by international tourists.
Price Increase Despite Low Tourists
In 2023, the total annual visitors to Lempuyang reached 344,669, with nearly 90% being international tourists. The cause of the recent decline is not yet detailed, but authorities hope for a substantial increase in tourist visits in 2024.
Following the lead of other tourist destinations, Pura Lempuyang follows Taman Tirta Gangga and Taman Sukasada in raising ticket prices from January 2024. Plans to increase the entry fee for Pura Besakih are scheduled for April 2024, with the possibility of other attractions following suit.
Authorities express optimism that the increase in revenue from tourism taxation will lead to improved infrastructure and services, enhancing the overall tourist experience in the Karangasem region.
