Super League Triathlon to Make Its Bali Debut on 23-24 March

The world’s top male and female triathletes will battle it out on the sands of Nusa Dua at next weekend’s Super League Triathlon (SLT), an all-new spectator-friendly version of the endurance sport. This will be the first time the fast-paced triathlon league has been hosted in Bali since its inception in 2017.

Featuring repeated circuits of a single swim-bike-run course, SLT was introduced to allow supporters to see more of the action than they would in a conventional Olympic distance triathlon. In SLT, athletes compete over five exciting swim-bike-run formats; the triple mix, eliminator, equalizer, sprint enduro, and enduro, with multiple transitions and live eliminations thrown into the mix.

Bali will be the second stop of the SLT after last month’s event in Singapore. It will be followed by race events in Poznan, Poland, and Penticton, Canada, later in the year.

The Indonesia leg will be held at the Ayodya Resort in Nusa Dua and will be contested over the Enduro format, which is considered the most challenging of all as it involves back-to-back swim-bike-runs with no breaks in between.

Competition is tight in the professional’s league with US$20,000 prize money up for grabs for the winners of each separate round, and US$100,000 for the overall league winners. But, according to SLT co-founder Michael D’hulst, the new format is geared towards hobbyists and amateur athletes too.

“All sports can be attended by participants from all sports backgrounds and levels of experience. Through these activities, we want to invite all people to compete together while testing the immune system,” he said, as quoted by Tempo.
