Sunrise at Grembeng Culali, Have You Been There?

Only a few people know if on the Culali route of Kintamani all this time has been the traffic lane of sand-transporting trucks keeps a magnificent place to enjoy the beauty of the sunrise. It is named the Grembeng Culali or Culali Valley. At the location, visitors can enjoy the charm of sunrise against the backdrop of mountains and lake.

To reach the location is not too difficult. From the four-way intersection of Batur village, visitors just need to go down to the Culali line. Less than half a kilometer away, there is signboard saying ‘Grembeng Culali.’ It is not far from a restaurant and Batur Mountain View Inn. Several spots have been provided in the Grembeng Culali to enjoy the beauty of the Batur caldera. In addition, there are bamboo platforms, bamboo boats, and several gazebos.

The owner of Grembeng Culali, I Ketut Suantika, said it is presented to tourists wishing to enjoy nature tourism. From Grembeng Culali which has an area of about 0.40 hectare, visitors can enjoy an alluring panoramic view of the Batur caldera, such as mountains, lake, and stretches of black stone (black lava) around the Mount Batur from the morning until the afternoon.

In the morning, visitors coming to the location can enjoy the charm of the sunrise with the background of three mountains at once namely Mount Batur, Mount Abang, and Mount Agung as well as Lake Batur. The landscape becomes more attractive because of the expanse of clouds covering the caldera. “The no less interesting is the view of the black lava which is very beautiful in the afternoon,” he explained.

He said that since it was opened a few months ago, Grembeng Culali had quite a lot of visitors. Averagely, there are approximately 2 to 20 people per day. To be able to enjoy the beauty of the natural panorama of Grembeng Culali, visitors are only charged an entrance fee of IDR 10,000 per person. “Most of the visitors are local people. Visitors are usually busy during holidays, such as Galungan, Kuningan, and other holidays,” he said.

This man who is also Chief of Subak Culali said that tourism potential at Culali is actually quite large. If arranged and managed properly, it is not inferior to other places. “Just like a beautiful girl, it hasn’t been touched by makeup yet,” he added.  To draw more tourist visits, Suantika admitted to continuously develop the Grembeng Culali by adding several facilities such as swings and gazebos.
