A total of 22 inmates of foreign nationality in a number of prisons in Bali province received a special remission in the event of Indonesia 71st Independence Day.
“Most of the foreign prisoners deal with drug cases,” said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Bali province, Sulistiono, in Denpasar on Tuesday.
Sulistiyono did not disclose the names of prisoners from a number of countries in the world who get a reduction in the period of custody. He only provide data on the country names: United States (2), Australia (4), Netherlands (2), England (1), Germany (1), Italy (1), Russia (1), Nigeria (1), Thailand ( 3), Malaysia (2), the Philippines (3) and Bangladesh (1).
The 22 foreign inmates are mostly the resident of Denpasar Class II-A Penitentiary in Kerobokan, Badung regency. They are part of the 902 prisoners who get a share of remission in Bali, with reductions ranging from one to six months.
Of that number, 91 people who got a general remission, three people who got free remission is associated with the inmate Regulation No. 99 of 2012 regarding the renewal of the previous PP which requires prisoners to cooperate with the government to reveal the specific case.
While nine other people related to Regulation No. 28 of 2006 relating to narcotic crime, corruption, crime Human Rights by weight, terrorism and trans-national crime.
For inmates associated with the rules in this regulation, the proposed remission was forwarded to the central government so that a decision letter waiting from Jakarta.
