However, to enhance direct access and increase international arrivals, officials are actively working to establish more direct flight routes to Labuan Bajo, especially from Australia—a major source market for Indonesian tourism.
As of now, domestic airlines such as Batik Air, Indonesia AirAsia, and Garuda Indonesia provide flights between Bali and Labuan Bajo, with flights lasting roughly one hour and twenty minutes. Dwi Marhen Yono, Director of Domestic Tourism Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, expressed ambitions to encourage more carriers to launch direct international services to Labuan Bajo. This move is expected to attract a broader spectrum of travelers and ease the journey to the region.

Labuan Bajo’s allure extends beyond its famed Komodo dragons and Komodo National Park. Akhmad Sadikin, Acting President Director of AirAsia Indonesia, reaffirmed the airline’s dedication to expanding its network to and from Labuan Bajo, currently serving eight domestic routes and twenty-five international routes. The airline plans to introduce more direct international flights, reinforcing Labuan Bajo’s position as a key tourism destination and economic center in the region.
