In a collaborative effort between tourism leaders and government officials from Bali and East Java, Wings Air now operates regular flights linking Denpasar’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport with Jember in East Java. This new service runs three times a week—every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—making it convenient for tourists to seamlessly hop from Bali to East Java in under an hour.
Located approximately 100 kilometers from renowned landmarks such as Mount Ijen, Jember serves as a strategic gateway for visitors aiming to discover East Java’s natural beauty and cultural attractions. The introduction of this flight route significantly reduces travel time compared to previous options, such as ferry crossings and land travel.
Expanding Tourism and Economic Growth
Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, highlighted the route’s importance at a recent press conference. He stated, “This route opens new access for public mobility and supports economic growth between the regions.” By improving air connectivity, the flight not only enriches tourism prospects but also bolsters regional economies through increased visitor activity.
Ngurah Rai Airport continues to expand its domestic flight network alongside its international connections and now serves 59 destinations with 51 airlines. Shahab emphasized that the new Denpasar-Jember flight “is part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening national air connectivity and encouraging the growth of the tourism industry and the regional economy.” He further added, “Each new route added not only expands the flight network available to the public but also strengthens Bali’s position as a leading destination that remains in high demand.”

Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategist for Wings Air, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded access to Jember, explaining that the route facilitates travel for local residents as well as domestic and international tourists. He commented, “The opening of this route marks the presence of Jember as a new destination that is increasingly easily accessible.”
The flight serves as a vital link not only for travelers coming from Bali to explore East Java’s diverse offerings—including towns like Lumajang, Bondowoso, Probolinggo, and Situbondo—but also for visitors making their way from East Java to Bali and beyond. Flight Schedule Details
The service departs Denpasar at 11:40 a.m., arriving in Jember by noon. The return flight leaves Jember at 1:00 p.m., landing in Denpasar at 3:20 p.m., operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Alternative travel options to East Java include ferry crossings from Gilimanuk to Banyuwangi and flights from Denpasar to Yogyakarta, allowing tourists the flexibility to explore both Central and East Java during their Indonesian itineraries.
