Bali’s Ulun Danu Beratan Temple to Increase Entry Fees Starting July 2026
Bali, Indonesia – Visitors to one of Bali’s most iconic and spiritually significant landmarks, the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, will face higher entry fees beginning July 1, 2026. The temple, located on the serene banks of Lake Beratan in the scenic Bedugul Highlands, attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists annually and is renowned for its picturesque lakeside setting and cultural importance.
Annual Price Adjustment Aimed at Enhancing Visitor Experience
Entry ticket prices for Bali’s cultural sites routinely undergo periodic adjustments, and the latest increase is part of this practice. According to I Made Sukarata, the Public Relations Officer for the Ulun Danu Beratan Tourist Attraction, the fare revision follows a comprehensive operational review. He emphasized that the primary goals are to improve the quality of services, maintain the comfort and cleanliness of the site, ensure visitor safety, and strengthen the destination’s competitiveness.
“We want to ensure that Ulun Danu Beratan remains a comfortable, clean, and safe destination with continuously improving service standards,” Sukarata explained. The adjustments will apply to both domestic and international visitors, with a standardized pricing structure throughout the week replacing the current variable rates.
New Entry Fee Structure from Mid-2026
The updated pricing details are as follows:
- Domestic adult visitors will pay IDR 50,000, up from the current IDR 20,000.
- Domestic children’s tickets will increase to IDR 25,000 from IDR 20,000.
- International adult tourists will see prices rise from IDR 75,000 to IDR 100,000.
- International children’s entry fees will increase to IDR 75,000 from IDR 50,000. Sukarata noted that official communications about the changes have been distributed to local tourism stakeholders, including ASITA (the Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies Association), PHRI (Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association), and travel agents beyond Bali. This is intended to allow tour operators to adjust their packages accordingly and avoid any surprises for travelers upon arrival.
Growing Popularity Amidst Stunning Natural Setting
Tourist numbers at Ulun Danu Beratan Temple continue to rise steadily. By the end of November 2025, the temple had welcomed nearly 468,000 visitors, with July being the peak month, attracting approximately 51,000 tourists. The temple’s appeal extends beyond its religious significance; it is also beloved for the breathtaking scenery of the Bedugul Highlands, characterized by cool, crisp air and rich forest coverage that offers visitors a tranquil escape from Bali’s coastal hustle.
The area around the temple has limited commercial development, and many accommodations nearby are locally owned, fostering a more authentic and intimate experience. Increasingly, travelers opt to stay longer in the Bedugul region rather than just making a brief visit.
Popular Day Trips and Attractions in Bedugul
For tourists based in Bali’s southern resorts, a day trip to the Bedugul Highlands remains a highly recommended excursion. Visitors can enjoy a scenic drive through Tabanan Regency, tour the temple and Lake Beratan, and explore other natural gardens such as Blooms Garden and the Bali Botanical Garden.
Additional popular photo stops and attractions include the famous Handara Gate, known for its striking backdrop, and the newly established Turyapada Tower, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Community and Traveler Reactions
While some budget-conscious travelers have expressed concerns about the price increases—highlighting that a family of four could face significantly higher costs for a relatively brief visit—others recognize that the adjustments remain reasonable and necessary to sustain the site’s upkeep and visitor services.
The management’s transparent communication and effort to enhance visitor experiences aim to balance affordability with quality, ensuring that Ulun Danu Beratan retains its status as a top tourist destination.
As Bali continues to welcome tourists from around the world, adapting pricing to meet inflation and infrastructural needs is consistent with global trends at major cultural landmarks.
Visitors planning to explore Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and the wider Bedugul Highlands are encouraged to review the new ticket prices ahead of their trip and take advantage of the many natural and cultural attractions the region offers.
