Entry Fees Increasing at Top Bali Cultural Tourist Attractions

The Badung Regency Government has recently announced a hike in entry fees for several prominent tourist destinations within the region. This move aims to boost revenue, which will be channeled into financing key infrastructure and development projects across Badung Regency.

New Regulation to Support Regional Development

The adjustment in entrance tariffs follows the finalization of a Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) by the Badung Regency Regional Representative Council (DPRD) and Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). This new regulation amends Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2023 related to regional taxes and levies, effectively authorizing fee increases at certain cultural and natural attractions.

Nyoman Satria, representing the Badung Regency Government, explained the purpose of the fee rise, noting, “There will be increases in Badung’s regional income (PAD), even if small, including land rent from regional assets, which will certainly be a source of PAD.” The additional funds are expected to support comprehensive infrastructure upgrades and other development initiatives intended to improve visitor experiences and local quality of life.

Attractions Featured in Fee Adjustments

The entry fee increases will primarily affect four major attractions: Taman Ayun Temple, Uluwatu Temple, Nungnung Waterfall, and Pandawa Beach. Alongside entrance fees, parking charges at these locations will also rise. The revised parking fees are set between IDR 1,000 to 2,000 for motorcycles, IDR 2,000 to 4,000 for cars, and IDR 5,000 to 10,000 for larger vehicles such as buses and people carriers, with payments accepted in cash.

I Nyoman Rudiarta, Head of the Badung Tourism Office, confirmed that while some tourist sites have adjusted their fees, others chose to maintain current rates, based on proposals from the managers of each attraction.

Specific Fee Changes for Visitors

Among the notable increases, Taman Ayun Temple will now charge international adult visitors IDR 50,000, and children will pay IDR 25,000. The temple complex is a significant cultural heritage site, encompassing 6.9 hectares, with surrounding agricultural land designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, drawing considerable local and international interest.

Uluwatu Temple, another landmark attraction, will increase entry fees to IDR 60,000 for international adults and IDR 40,000 for international children. It is important to note that tickets for the traditional nighttime kecak dance performances at Uluwatu are sold separately and are not included in the entrance fees.

At Pandawa Beach, international adult visitors will now pay IDR 25,000, with children charged IDR 15,000, in addition to the new parking fees.

Attractions Retaining Current Fees

Certain popular sites have opted not to raise entry fees at this time. Labuan Sait Beach (also known as Padang Padang Beach) and the Water Blow Peninsula at Nusa Dua will keep their existing pricing structures. For example, Water Blow charges IDR 15,000 for domestic adult visitors and IDR 25,000 for foreign adults, while rates for children are IDR 10,000 for locals and IDR 15,000 for foreigners. Labuan Sait Beach maintains an entry fee of IDR 10,000 for domestic adults and IDR 15,000 for international adults.

Similarly, Pancoran Solas Taman Mumbul continues with fees at IDR 10,000 for domestic adults and IDR 20,000 for foreign adults, with adjusted rates for children.

Supporting Sustainable Tourism

The decision to increase fees reflects a broader strategy to balance tourism growth with sustainable management of cultural sites and infrastructure needs throughout Badung Regency. As visitor numbers rise, the additional financial resources are anticipated to improve maintenance, preserve cultural heritage, and enhance tourism facilities.

Travelers planning visits to these destinations are encouraged to prepare for the updated fees and parking charges to ensure a smooth experience. The Badung Regency Government and tourism officials remain committed to preserving Bali’s rich cultural legacy while promoting responsible tourism and regional development.
