GWK Festival Returns as Bali’s Biggest New Year Celebration for Tourists

December 16, 2025 — The iconic Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park in Bali is gearing up to host its highly anticipated New Year’s Eve celebration, reaffirming its status as one of the largest and most vibrant festivities on the island. With promises of spectacular fireworks, live performances, and cultural showcases, the festival is set to welcome both domestic and international tourists in grand style.

A Grand Fireworks Display with a New Twist

This year’s New Year’s Eve event at GWK Cultural Park will feature an enhanced fireworks show designed to provide uninterrupted views for all attendees. Ch Rossie Andriani, Operations Director of GWK Cultural Park, revealed that the location of the fireworks launch has been moved behind the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. “Last year, the explosions were in front of the statue, and the smoke unfortunately obscured the view. This new setup ensures the majestic statue remains visible throughout the dazzling five-minute display of 12,000 fireworks, timed precisely to the stroke of midnight,” Andriani explained.

Preparing for a Surge in Visitors

The GWK Cultural Park usually welcomes around 3,500 visitors on weekdays. However, during the busy Christmas and New Year period, visitor numbers are expected to almost double, reaching between 6,000 to 8,000 people per day. Given its appeal as a major tourist destination, the park is preparing for a large influx of guests, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a safe and memorable experience.

To manage the increased traffic and ensure smooth entry and exit, the park has coordinated closely with the Bali Regional Police for security and traffic control. This collaboration is essential not only for GWK traffic management but also due to the surrounding Bukit Peninsula’s often congested roads, especially near Uluwatu and Jimbaran.

Accessibility and Safety Measures

Event-goers will benefit from a free shuttle bus service, designed to facilitate transportation to and from the park. Registration for this shuttle is available through the GWK Cultural Park’s official Instagram account, where visitors can scan a QR code to sign up.

With New Year’s Eve coinciding with Bali’s rainy season, organizers have also outlined contingency plans for adverse weather. Andre R. Prawiradisastra, General Manager of Marketing Communication and Events at GWK Cultural Park, shared, “While we cannot guarantee clear skies, we have put precautionary measures in place and even involved a rain shaman as part of our tradition to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.”

A Night of Music, Culture, and Celebration

The New Year’s Eve party extends beyond fireworks, taking over the entire cultural park with a lineup of popular artists and bands. Attendees can enjoy live performances by Whisnu Santika & MC Drwe, Maliq & D’Essentials, Lomba Ajaib, Lolot, and Navicula. Duo Giga will host the event, keeping the energy lively throughout the night.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the program includes a mesmerizing Kecak dance performance filled with fire elements, running from 6 p.m. until midnight, blending Bali’s rich cultural heritage with modern celebrations.

Ticket Promotions and Availability

Tickets for general admission to GWK Cultural Park are currently on a buy-one-get-one-free offer, inviting more visitors to explore the park year-round. For the New Year’s Eve party, special packages are available, including a VIP package of four tickets priced at IDR 550,000. This promotional price is valid only until December 20, so those planning to experience Bali’s biggest and most spectacular fireworks event are encouraged to secure their tickets promptly, as the event consistently sells out.
