Bali United Basketball Prepares for Indonesian Basketball League 2025 Season
Denpasar, ANTARA – Bali United Basketball is gearing up for the upcoming season of the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) 2025, which officially kicks off this Saturday, January 11th. As the team fine-tunes its physical conditioning and cohesion during the final training session, excitement is building for what promises to be an intense competition.
Team Readiness and Training Focus
I Gusti Ngurah Rusta Wijaya, the head coach of Bali United Basketball, expressed confidence about the team’s readiness, stating, “For the 2025 season, we are fully prepared, especially with our foreign players. We have been training together for almost a month.” The focus during practice has been on offensive and defensive formations, as well as enhancing players’ mental fortitude for execution during matches.
The team recently completed a series of trial games aimed at fine-tuning their skills and synchronizing their playing style. Coach Rusta Wijaya emphasized the importance of teamwork and building chemistry among players, particularly to assist the foreign players in adjusting to both the climate and the local style of play.
Player Composition
Bali United Basketball’s squad includes three foreign players and one heritage player out of a total roster of 12 athletes who will travel to North Sumatra for their first away match against Rajawali Medan. The foreign players—Bobby Williams JR, Joshua Nurse, and Xavier Cannefax—are all hailing from the United States. Additionally, Reo Sakai, who has Japanese-Indonesian descent, rounds out the team as a heritage player.
Preparing for Challenges
Xavier Cannefax, one of the foreign players, shared his experiences since joining the team. He noted, “Training with my teammates has been different compared to playing in America. The physicality of the game here is tougher, and the players have a higher skill level.” Cannefax reiterated the team’s ambition to compete for the championship title this season, though he also acknowledged the need for realism as younger players continue to develop their skills within the team framework.
Ida Bagus Ananta Wisnu Putra, another player on the team, revealed that he has been training intensively for about four months, spending one of those months working alongside the foreign players. He expressed no difficulties in building team chemistry, thanks in part to the presence of several local players. “Chemistry is easy to build, especially since our coach has previously trained us during the PON (National Sports Week),” said Putra, who also plays as a point guard.
Looking Ahead
As Bali United Basketball approaches its first match against Rajawali Medan, fans can anticipate a resilient and competitive team ready to make its mark in the IBL 2025 season. With a solid mix of local talent and international expertise, the Tridatu Warriors are set to deliver an exciting season of basketball to supporters both near and far.
