Bali Police Increase Nighttime Patrols in Canggu to Enhance Tourist Safety

October 30, 2025, Bali — In a proactive move aimed at boosting public safety and enhancing the experience of visitors, Bali’s North Kuta Police have commenced regular nighttime patrols throughout the bustling nightlife scene in Canggu. This popular tourist destination, known for its vibrant entertainment venues and beachside activities, has seen a steady rise in visitor numbers, prompting law enforcement to take steps to safeguard both residents and tourists.

Focus on Nighttime Safety in Batu Bolong Area

The first in this series of patrols took place on Friday, October 24, concentrating on the Batu Bolong area, a hotspot for bars, clubs, and restaurants. Led by First Inspector Bagus Made Kobarawan, Acting Head of Unit 3 Samapta, alongside two other officers, the patrol involved inspecting several nightlife venues during their operating hours. The officers emphasized cooperation with venue security staff, instructing them to maintain vigilance over patrons and promptly report any signs of disruptive or suspicious behavior.

Inspector Kobarawan underscored the police commitment to creating a safe environment, stating, “We will always ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable in public places.” This initiative reflects the police’s dedication to preventive measures, aiming to deter disturbances before they escalate.

Data-Driven Policing and Community Confidence

North Kuta Police Chief Commissioner I Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina highlighted that these patrols are a response to data collected through ongoing analysis of incident reports across their jurisdiction. The evaluation revealed frequent security disturbances in entertainment venues at night, necessitating increased police presence.

“Our goal is to maintain public order and security in the Batu Bolong beach area, which serves as a critical hub for economic activity and tourism,” said Commissioner Sudina. He added that the visible presence of law enforcement not only addresses disruptive behavior but also serves to reassure visitors, potentially encouraging greater tourist inflows both domestically and internationally.

“The increased patrols are expected to minimize disruptions and crime, ensuring that both locals and tourists can enjoy a safe and comfortable atmosphere,” Commissioner Sudina remarked.

Collaboration with Local Transport Operators

In addition to venue patrolling, North Kuta Police have been actively engaging with tourism drivers and taxi operators throughout Canggu. These interactions focus on ensuring that transportation services operate legally and prioritize passenger safety, contributing to an overall secure environment for visitors.

Integrated Immigration Controls Complement Patrols

Parallel to the police patrols, Immigration Task Force teams have intensified spot checks and patrols across Bali’s prime tourist spots, including Sanur, Legian, Seminyak, Ubud, and Canggu. Since August 2025, these teams have conducted random identity verifications to ensure that foreign nationals comply with visa regulations, particularly prohibiting unauthorized work or business activities while on tourist visas.

Following recent immigration activities in Canggu, officials reiterated the importance of tourists carrying valid identification. The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office pointed out that under Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration, foreign visitors must present their passports or residence permits upon request by immigration officers. While copies of documents might sometimes be accepted, carrying original documents remains the recommended practice.
