Bali Police Enhance English Language Skills to Improve Service in Top Tourist Destinations

In a significant move to boost communication and safety within Bali’s globally renowned tourist hubs, dozens of local police officers are undergoing English language training. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of public service for international visitors by equipping officers with better language skills to interact effectively with foreigners.

The English training session was conducted on August 8, 2025, at the Bali Regional Police Precision Building located on WR Supratman Street. It forms part of the Bali Regional Police’s comprehensive effort not only to provide improved policing services but also to address issues involving unruly or criminal behavior by foreign tourists on the island.

The workshop was officially inaugurated by Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya and attended by Deputy Chief Brigadier General Komang Sandi Arsana along with other senior police officials. Inspector General Adityajaya emphasized the necessity of competent communication skills amidst Bali’s high levels of interaction between locals and international visitors.

“As a world-class tourist destination, Bali requires police officers who are not only highly professional but also capable of engaging effectively with foreign tourists,” Inspector General Adityajaya stated. He further described the training as a strategic step toward enhancing human resource quality among the police, aiming to deliver services at international standards.

The initiative aligns with Bali’s broader mission to uphold public order and safeguard cultural respect amid growing concerns about inappropriate conduct by tourists, expatriates, digital nomads, and international business visitors. Authorities from the provincial government, tourism boards, immigration, and local security units are collaborating to address these challenges.

Complementing the language training, recently introduced measures include the deployment of the Bali Regional Immigration Patrol Task Force (Satgas). Confirmed by Indonesian Minister for Immigration Agus Andrianto, this 100-officer team is designated to monitor and respond swiftly to illegal activities, public disturbances, or cultural disrespect by foreigners.

The immigration patrol officers will operate strategically across key locations, including the popular areas of Canggu, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Sanur, Benoa, Pecatu, Uluwatu, Bingin Beach, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Ubud. Outfitted with security vests and body cameras, and supported by dedicated vehicles including motorcycles, these officers aim to maintain the island’s safety and reputation as a premier international tourist spot.
