Blackouts Hit Bali as Major Power Outage Strikes Indonesian Tourist Haven

Bali, Indonesia—A significant power outage affected several regions of Bali, Indonesia’s premier tourist destination, on Friday, leading to widespread disruptions for both locals and visitors. The state utility company, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), confirmed that crews were actively working to restore electricity across the island.

The outage, which began in the early hours of the day, impacted various areas including popular beachside locales. PLN spokesperson I Wayan Eka Susana reported that the recovery process is currently ongoing and efforts to investigate the root cause of the outage are underway. "The recovery process is currently being carried out gradually," Susana stated.

Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport also experienced disruptions as a result of the power outage. Despite the blackout, inbound and outbound flights continued operating, as confirmed by the airport’s management in a recent update via Instagram. Travelers were, however, met with challenges, including prolonged queues at the airport check-in counters.
