International Tourists in Bali Can Now Pay Everywhere Using a Single Digital Wallet

Bali, Indonesia — In a significant move to enhance the travel experience and embrace digital innovation, Bali has introduced a new payment system allowing international tourists to pay everywhere using a single digital wallet. The initiative, called the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP), is designed to simplify transactions across the island’s vast tourism landscape, making travel more convenient and cashless.

Simplifying Travel Payments with ITTP

Launched by Bank Indonesia, the ITTP offers a combined package that includes a chip-based digital wallet linked to Indonesia’s Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), a local SIM card with data access, and a local mobile phone number. This all-in-one solution enables visitors to make seamless payments by scanning QR codes at restaurants, hotels, shops, markets, and famous tourist attractions all over Bali.

The aim of the ITTP is to reduce the need for physical currency, streamline checkout processes, and eliminate confusion around different payment systems that often challenge international visitors. This innovation is especially timely given that Bali welcomes millions of tourists annually, many of whom prefer digital and mobile payments over traditional cash.

Easier Onboarding with Tourism Information Centre

To facilitate smooth adoption of the digital wallet, Bank Indonesia has established a Tourism Information Centre at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. Here, arriving travelers receive assistance setting up their digital wallets and activating their SIM cards. The center also provides access to the QRIS Nusantara Tourism Guidebook, which lists participating businesses and landmarks where digital payments are accepted.

Fillianingsih Hendarta, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, emphasized the importance of ease and convenience for travelers: “Ease of transactions is an important part of the tourism experience in Bali.” The launch of the ITTP aligns with Bali’s broader goals to foster modern, seamless, and visitor-friendly travel.

Growing Digital Payment Adoption Across Bali

The adoption of cashless payments in Bali has seen a dramatic rise in 2025. Nearly one million merchants across the island now accept payments through QR codes, reflecting the growing trend toward digital financial services. This surge includes not only the popular tourist hotspots but also rural and cultural areas such as Ubud and Penglipuran, where small shops, temple stalls, and local kiosks have embraced QRIS payments.

Visitors from key source markets including China, Japan, and Singapore can use their existing digital wallets thanks to cross-border QRIS functionality.
