Bali, Indonesia — In an effort to provide a smoother, faster, and more convenient travel experience, Bali has launched a new digital payment system specifically designed for tourists. This initiative, unveiled at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, aims to support a cashless tourism environment and solidify Indonesia’s reputation as a tourist-friendly destination.
Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP): A Complete Digital Payment Solution
Bank Indonesia has introduced the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP), a comprehensive package designed to facilitate seamless digital transactions for international visitors. The ITTP includes an Indonesian SIM card with internet access and chip-based electronic money linked to a prepaid e-wallet. Together, these elements enable travelers to make quick, QR-code-based payments at key locations such as tourist sites, shops, hotels, and eateries across Bali.
Integration with QRIS for Cashless Transactions
The digital payment system integrates with Indonesia’s Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), a nationwide platform that supports cashless payments through QR code scanning and prepaid e-wallets. While cash remains commonly used, the adoption of QRIS offers a desirable alternative for tourists, enabling payments to be made directly via smartphones. This not only streamlines transactions but also improves overall accessibility and convenience during travel.
Tourism Information Center at Bali Airport
To support the rollout of this system, authorities have established a dedicated Tourism Information Center at Bali’s international airport. Here, visitors can obtain the ITTP package and access the QRIS Nusantara Tourism Guidebook. The guidebook serves as a valuable resource outlining popular attractions, cafes, markets, and businesses across Bali that accept QRIS payments, further enhancing the traveler’s digital payment experience.
