Enhanced Security Measures Implemented at Bali’s Popular Tourist Attractions

Bali, Indonesia – As the festive season approaches, Bali is enforcing tighter security measures across its leading tourist destinations, part of a nationwide operation known as Operation Ketupat Agung 2025. This initiative aims to ensure safety and maintain public order during the Nyepi and Lebaran Eid al-Fitr festivals, which hold great significance in Indonesian culture. The operation commenced on March 20 and will run until April 8, 2025. ## Nationwide Security Deployment

In response to the anticipated influx of visitors, additional security teams have been deployed across Bali. Key transport hubs, including Gilimanuk Harbor, Sanur Port, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, are under constant watch by police, military personnel, and private security. These locations are crucial as they facilitate the movement of travelers to and from various parts of the island.

"The situation at our airport is currently stable and well-managed, thanks to the collaboration of all agencies involved in our operations," stated Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. On March 30, the airport experienced significant traffic, handling approximately 73,000 passengers across 390 flights, showcasing a 3% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year.

Increased Tourist Activity

The Lebaran holiday is the peak season for domestic tourism in Indonesia, prompting a surge in local travel as many citizens return home to celebrate the occasion with family. Recent data from the airport indicated that although this year’s growth in passengers is modest compared to the previous Eid celebrations, there is optimism about improved numbers in the coming days.

Shahab emphasized that with the peak homecoming period still ongoing, further coordination and strict supervision will be necessary to maintain quality service for all travelers. He also noted that the summer surge would continue to bring more international tourists to Bali, which remains a top vacation destination.

Focus on Popular Attractions

In preparation for the increased visitor numbers, Bali Police has implemented additional security measures at key tourist attractions, including Bedugul Botanical Gardens, Kuta, Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Sanur, Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, and Canggu. Senior Commissioner Pol. Ariasany of the Bali Police stated that efforts are concentrated on areas expected to be heavily populated by tourists during this busy period.

Travelers looking to visit these popular destinations should anticipate potential traffic delays and should allow extra time for their journeys. "We urge tourists to be cautious and maintain their safety in crowded areas, where the risk of petty crime may increase," Pol. Ariasany cautioned.

In addition to enhancing security, the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, has reiterated his call for tourists to respect local customs and traditions. The province is advocating for stricter enforcement of behavioral guidelines designed to promote sustainable tourism practices.
