Immigration Authorities Open New Offices in Bali to Enhance Monitoring of Foreign Nationals

Denpasar, Bali – November 13, 2025 – In an effort to strengthen oversight of foreign nationals in Bali, the Directorate General of Immigration has inaugurated two new immigration offices located in Tabanan and Klungkung Districts. This initiative is designed to widen the reach of immigration services and improve supervision of foreign visitors in key tourist areas across the island.

Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, explained that these new offices were established in response to growing demand for immigration-related services in specific regions. “Regions identified as having significant immigration service needs can now be better accommodated,” Yusman said in a statement received in Denpasar.

Locations and Services

The new Immigration Office in Tabanan District is situated behind the Tabanan Head District Office on Jalan Arjuna 2 Delod Peken in the Sub-district of Tabanan. Meanwhile, the Klungkung District office is located on Jalan Semarapura in the Sub-district of Klungkung. Both offices are classified as Class III Immigration Offices and operate without Immigration Checkpoint (Non-TPI) status.

These newly opened branches provide a wide range of services to both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals. Services available include passport issuance and renewal, residence permit processing, and other immigration-related administrative processes.

Enhancing Immigration Monitoring and Law Enforcement

Beyond service provision, the establishment of these offices aims to reinforce immigration law enforcement and monitoring capabilities throughout Bali. Enhanced local presence will enable quicker and more effective coordination with government agencies when addressing violations involving foreign nationals.

The move is also expected to alleviate the workload demands on the Denpasar Immigration Office, which currently serves Denpasar City as well as parts of Badung District (Abiansemal, Mengwi, and Petang Sub-districts), alongside Gianyar, Klungkung, Bangli, and Tabanan Districts.

Bali’s Immigration Infrastructure and Tourism Growth

Currently, Bali hosts three Immigration Offices with Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) status: the Denpasar Immigration Office; Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, covering the Kuta area, North Kuta, and South Kuta in Badung District; and the Singaraja Immigration Office serving Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem Districts.

The new offices in Tabanan and Klungkung are expected to complement this infrastructure, supporting Bali’s burgeoning tourism sector. The Bali Provincial Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that international tourist arrivals from January to September 2025 reached approximately 5.29 million, marking an 11.55 percent increase from 4.74 million during the same period the previous year.

Australian tourists continue to represent the largest visitor group with around 1.2 million visits, followed by travelers from India, China, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Malaysia, Germany, and Japan.

Addressing Immigration Challenges

While the growth in tourism brings economic benefits, it also underscores the need for enhanced immigration control to prevent violations by foreign nationals. Recent data has highlighted concerns, such as the involvement of some foreigners in criminal activities and immigration infractions, prompting authorities to focus more closely on monitoring and enforcement.

The addition of these new offices is thus a key part of a broader strategy to maintain secure, lawful, and orderly management of foreign nationals residing in or visiting Bali.
