Bali Airport operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week year-round, pausing only on Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence. Typically, the airport handles between 30,000 and 40,000 passengers daily, with numbers spiking above 62,000 during peak travel seasons, including school and religious holidays.
To meet this growing demand and maintain public security, officers from the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police are increasing their patrols both day and night. These enhanced patrols will focus on strategic and vulnerable locations such as departure and arrival terminals, vehicle parking zones, pick-up lanes, and customer service areas.
Ipda I Gede Suka Artana of the Airport Area Police explained, "Our team not only monitors the situation but also assists the community and tourists seeking information. Increasing night patrols ensures safety and comfort at all hours."
The patrols aim to deter criminal activities and prevent disturbances, enhancing the overall travel experience while also managing traffic flow by encouraging proper use of designated parking areas.
Record Passenger Volume Drives Security Enhancements
July 2025 marked the busiest month at Bali Airport so far, with 2.3 million passengers passing through its terminals. General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab reported that domestic travelers accounted for roughly 38% of this total, while international passengers made up the remaining 62%.
Shahab noted that the demand for travel to Bali remains strong beyond the typical summer break, averaging over 76,000 passengers daily in July—higher than previous holiday peaks. He emphasized the airport team’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and accessible environment for all.
"In providing services, we face various challenges, but our commitment to safety and quality remains unwavering," Shahab stated. "We continue to enhance security measures and overall service quality as part of our responsibility to all service users."
