The family of a young Australian man who tragically died while on holiday in Bali has been left devastated after his body was returned from Indonesia without his heart.
Byron Haddow, a 23-year-old man from Queensland, was found dead earlier this year in the plunge pool of his villa on the popular Indonesian resort island. His unexpected death shocked his family and friends back home.
Four weeks after his passing, Haddow’s body was repatriated to Australia. However, during a second autopsy conducted in Queensland, authorities discovered that his heart was missing.
The news has been a source of immense sorrow for Haddow’s family. His mother, Chantal Haddow, expressed her grief and disbelief, telling Australia’s Channel Nine, “Just when I thought I couldn’t feel any more heartbroken, it was another kick in the guts.”
Australian officials have since demanded explanations from Indonesian authorities regarding the removal of his heart. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed they are providing consular assistance to the Haddow family but declined to comment further due to privacy reasons.
