Another Australian dies in Bali

Another death … Police outside the hotel where Australian, Maurice Garnet Berry, was found dead in Legian.

Mr Putra said that Berry had suffered illness for the past two months and had also been an inpatient at Siloam Hospital.

On the Friday at 11am, the day before he was found died, his Australian friend came to the hotel with a doctor who checked his condition.

On Saturday morning, at 10am, his friend came again but when they went to the room there was no answer when they knocked on the door. It was thought that he still sleeping and his friend left.

At 4pm today, the hotel staff decided to check and found him already dead.

The head of Sanglah hospital’s Forensic team, Dr Ida Bagus Putu Alit, said there was no sign of violence.

“From the external examination, we didn’t find any sign of violence on the body. There is no bruise or wound on the body,” Dr Alit said.

“We cannot find the cause of the death without an autopsy. We need an autopsy to find the cause of the death.”

The body is still at Sanglah morgue. So too is the body of Perth man Daniel Evans.

His family have not requested an autopsy in Bali and it is expected his body may be flown home on Tuesday.ANOTHER Australian has died in Bali, several days after another man died of his injuries after crashing through a glass door.

The 69-year-old Sydney man was found dead in his Kuta hotel room on Saturday afternoon. He is believed to have been ill and the forensics team says there are no obvious signs of injury.

His death comes just days after Perth man, Daniel Evans, died after slashing an artery when he fell through a glass door at his hotel room. The 24-year-old was on holiday with his girlfriend and family members at the time.

The latest death, which follows a spate of Australian deaths in Bali in the past few months, comes after the man was found dead in his hotel room on the weekend.

Police have given his name as Maurice Garnet Berry. He was found dead in his room at the Surya Dewata Cottages in Legian on Saturday afternoon after hotel staff thought it strange that he had not been seen all day.

When they opened his room, he was found lying on the bed.

A hotel staff member, Ida Bagus Komang Putra, told News Corp Australia that the victim was a retiree from Sydney who repeatedly stayed at the hotel for the last two years, leaving only to extend his visa.
