New Bali Entry Rules for Australian Travellers Take Effect

Starting Monday, September 1, 2025, new entry regulations have come into force for Australians travelling to Bali and other destinations within Indonesia, as Indonesian authorities continue to enhance border control measures. These updated requirements aim to streamline the arrival process for international visitors arriving at key airports across the country.

All Indonesia Arrival Card Now Mandatory

A central feature of the new rules is the mandatory submission of the All Indonesia Arrival Card. This digital declaration must be completed by all international travellers before arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, as well as Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and Juanda International Airport in Surabaya. By October 1, the requirement will extend to all international airports throughout Indonesia.

Australians are advised to submit their All Indonesia Arrival Card at least 48 hours prior to travel. The card consolidates several previous forms related to health declarations, customs, quarantine, and immigration into a single digital document. The introduction of this system is designed to simplify and expedite the entry process.

Visa and Fee Information

Travellers can also apply for the electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) through the official All Indonesia website after completing their arrival card. The cost for the new declaration card is approximately $50 AUD (500,000 Indonesian Rupiah). It is important to note that this does not replace the $15 AUD Bali tourist tax, which remains a separate mandatory payment.

Guidance for Visitors

In addition to compliance with entry paperwork, tourists are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Bali Provincial Government’s guidelines for foreign visitors. These “Do’s and Don’ts” include respecting local temples, customs, and traditions, as well as following specific rules applicable to various tourist attractions and activities.

The Australian Government’s Smartraveller service also reminds travellers to check visa conditions along with updated entry and exit requirements prior to their trips to Indonesia.

Preparing Ahead for Your Trip

The introduction of the All Indonesia Arrival Card marks a significant change in travel preparations for Australians visiting Bali and other Indonesian destinations. By completing the new digital form well in advance, travellers can avoid delays and ensure a smooth arrival experience amid evolving health and security protocols implemented by Indonesian authorities.
