Two Suspects Detained in Killing of Australian Tourist in Bali
DENPASAR, Indonesia — Authorities have detained two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of an Australian tourist on the popular Indonesian resort island of Bali, national police officials confirmed on Tuesday.
National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo provided the update during a press briefing, revealing that one suspect is currently held in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, while the other suspect, apprehended overseas, is being returned to Jakarta under official supervision. The police chief did not disclose further details about the identities or circumstances surrounding the arrest of the two individuals.
The successful detainment was the result of coordinated efforts between Indonesian police, immigration agencies, and the Australian Federal Police, highlighting close international cooperation in the investigation.
The victim, 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic from Melbourne, Australia, was shot dead on Friday night at a villa near Munggu Beach in the Badung district of Bali. Authorities reported that another Australian tourist who was present at the scene suffered assault during the attack but survived.
Eyewitnesses described the incident, stating that two masked assailants arrived at the villa on a scooter around midnight before launching the violent attack. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear as investigations continue.
