Bali Introduces New Travel Regulations Targeting Tourist Behavior

2. Respect Toward Sacred Symbols: Visitors must demonstrate appropriate behavior around sacred sites and symbols, refraining from actions such as climbing monuments and trees or entering sacred areas while menstruating.

3. Sustainable Practices: The use of single-use plastics is prohibited, and littering is strictly discouraged. Tourists are also reminded not to engage in activities such as drug trading or operating a business without the necessary permits.

4. Driver Requirements: For those choosing to drive in Bali, regulations mandate the possession of an international or national driver’s license, adherence to traffic signs, avoidance of substance use while driving, and the use of helmets on motorbikes and motorcycles.

5. Use of Licensed Services: Tourists must utilize licensed tour guides, authorized money exchange services, legal car rentals, and officially recognized accommodations to ensure their interactions within the destination are safe and compliant with local laws.

Enforcement and Reporting Infractions

Governor Koster also underscored the legal implications for those who do not comply with the new regulations, stating that violations could lead to consequences under Indonesian law.
