The Yogyakarta city administration is operating a sightseeing double-decker bus called Domapan to cater to holidaymakers during Idul Fitri. Available for free from June 9 to 23, the bus departs from Taman Pintar and travels along Jl. Suryatmajan, Jl. Mataram, Jl. Malioboro, Jl. Margo Mulyo and Jl. Senopati before returning to Taman Pintar.
As reported by Antara, the bus operates once a day starting at 10 a.m. from Taman Pintar. Due to heavy traffic along the route, the bus travels at a slow pace, about 10 kilometers per hour.
“That’s why we choose [to operate the bus at] 10 a.m., which is when traffic is not so heavy,” said Yogyakarta Tourism Agency’s Taman Pintar division head, Afia Rosdiana.
Since it started operations, Afia said interest in Domapan has been high. The tour bus can accommodate 25 passengers. Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi expressed optimism that Domapan would encourage people to explore the city during the Idul Fitri holiday.
Additionally, the city is scheduled to host gamelan performances at Tugu KB Taman Parkir Abu Bakar Ali on June 17 to 19 New to the city? Visit the Tourist Information Center first on Jl. Malioboro, which is run by the agency.
