Two Rafflesia Flowers Bloom in North Bengkulu

Share This Post:

Two Rafflesia gadutensis flowers reportedly bloomed in the Boven Lais protected forest in North Bengkulu regency, Bengkulu province, on Saturday.

Umbara, a member of Komunitas Peduli Puspa Langka (Community Care for Rare Flowers), said that the flowers bloomed at the same time, each with a diameter of around 1.5 meters. Umbara said the rare flowers would stay at its peak bloom for the next two days.

Antara reported that the community had opened a trail for those looking to see the smallest flower in the genus Rafflesia. Umbara urged hikers to first contact the community before viewing the flowers, as there were no signs by the plants that outlined park regulations.

“Visitors can find information about the flowers at the security post on the way to Palak Siring waterfall,” Umbara said.
