Australian Man Killed in Shooting on Bali Tourist Island
Bali, Indonesia – Authorities are investigating a tragic shooting incident on the popular tourist island of Bali that resulted in the death of an Australian man late Friday night. Zivan Radmanovic, a 32-year-old resident of Melbourne, was shot at a villa located near Munggu Beach in Badung, a district known for its beachfront properties and vibrant tourism scene.
Incident Details
The incident occurred just after midnight at Villa Casa Santisya, where Radmanovic and a 34-year-old male companion, also from Melbourne, were staying. According to police reports, two gunmen arrived on a scooter and opened fire, fatally injuring Radmanovic and injuring the second victim, who was severely beaten but survived. Both men were quickly taken to hospitals in Denpasar, the provincial capital of Bali, for medical treatment.
Badung Police chief Arif Batubara confirmed that Radmanovic was shot in a bathroom, where investigators recovered 17 bullet casings along with two intact bullets. The villa at the time had three rooms occupied by a total of five guests, including the wives of the two victims and another foreign tourist.
Witness Accounts
Several witnesses at the villa provided statements to the police, detailing the events of that fateful night. They reported seeing two gunmen, with one wearing an orange jacket and a dark helmet, and the other in a dark green jacket, a black mask, and a dark helmet. The gunmen fled the scene shortly after the attack.
Radmanovic’s wife, Gourdeas Jazmyn, recounted her fear as she awoke to her husband’s screams and the sound of gunfire. In the aftermath, she found her husband unconscious and the other injured Australian. The survivor’s wife has also corroborated the attackers’ presence during the ordeal.
Investigation Underway
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and an investigation is ongoing to locate the suspects. Police have stated that no further details can be disclosed at this time, as they continue to analyze evidence and gather testimonies from more witnesses.
In collaboration with local authorities, the Australian Consulate in Bali has been notified of the incident. An autopsy on Radmanovic’s body is pending, awaiting permission from his family.
