The Tourism Ministry is aiming to attract 102,007 travelers from Spain this year, Antara news agency reports.
The ministry’s Indonesia Tourism Promotion for Europe director Agustini Rahayu said that in June, the ministry recorded 38,598 tourists from Spain visiting the country, reflecting a 17 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) data, 65,000 Spanish tourists visited Indonesia in 2016. To achieve the target, the ministry will hold a sales mission event in Spain involving Indonesian sellers and 22 buyers from Spain.
With help from the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid, the business-to-business (B2B) activity is expected to expand Indonesia’s network and increase the sales of its various tour packages.
