Up to 32 decorated vehicles enlivened Tomohon International Flower Festival held in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, on Aug. 8. According to a statement, people from across Indonesia as well as Nepal, Ukraine, Australia, South Korea, and the United States took part in the annual event.

In addition to putting a spotlight on flowers, the festival also launched the Lily Iriana flower that was inspired by First Lady Iriana Jokowi, and broke an Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) record through the Ma’zani dance for the largest number of dancers as it was performed by 1,530 people.

Nestled at around 900 to 1,100 meters above sea level and home to one of the largest producers of flowers in the country, Tomohon boasts fresh flowers that can easily be found at roadside stalls.

In order to boost tourist arrivals, the government has boosted development in the region including by increasing the capacity of the province’s Sam Ratulangi International Airport and widening toll roads.
