Located east of Sumatra, Bangka Island in the Bangka Belitung Islands is a popular getaway destination offering numerous beaches. “Bangka currently has nine highlighted attractions, most of which are beaches,” said Asep Setiawan, head of the Bangka Tourism, Youth and Sports Agency, as quoted by Antara.
The attractions are spread across two districts, he noted. In the Belinyu district, popular tourism destinations include Romodong Beach, Penyusuk Beach and Batu Dinding Beach. In the Sungailiat district, travelers can visit Tanjung Pesona Beach, Parai Tenggiri Beach, Matras Beach, Tongachi Beach, Tikus Emas Beach, as well as Padepokan Puri Tri Agung temple.
“The tourist attractions are already well-known among domestic tourists. However, only visitors from a few countries have become familiar with them, mostly through events we organize every year,” Asep said.
The government still faces obstacles in developing the destinations due to limited budgets and land disputes. Asep further expressed hope that third parties, whether they are private citizens or community tourism groups, could contribute toward the maintenance and development of these attractions to offer an enjoyable experience for visitors.
“Hopefully, private individuals and investors with community groups can continue to improve [the destinations]; we still support them in whatever form,” Asep said. He added that other popular destinations in the province included Rambak Beach, Pukan Beach and Anyir Beach.
