Priority Train Offers Promotions for ‘Mudik’

Those who haven’t yet booked their tickets for mudik (exodus) can consider state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI)’s Priority train as it offers the best deals for trips within Java island.

The reservation period for the Priority train has begun from May 6 until June 5 for those traveling between June 9 and 25. Among the routes prepared by PT KAI for the service are Surakarta in Central Java, Surabaya in East Java, Yogyakarta, Malang in East Java and Semarang in Central Java. Ticket prices start from Rp 500,000 (US$36). The Bangunkarta train, for instance, caters to the Surabaya Gubeng-Jakarta Gambir route on June, 9, 11 and 13 with ticket prices starting from Rp 600,000. The return journey is available on June 19, 21 and 23 at similar prices.

Meanwhile, those who want to travel from Yogyakarta to Gambir Station in Jakarta can opt for the Taksaka train, available from June 10 to 14 with a starting price of Rp 500,000. The return journey is available from June 18 to 25 with prices starting at Rp 600,000. For the Malang-Gambir route, there is Gajayana train on June 9, 11 and 13 for Rp 600,000; meanwhile the return trip is available on June 19, 21 and 23 with the same fare.

Those who want to travel to Gambir Station from Solo Balapan Station in Surakarta can travel with Argo Lawu train from June 9 to 14 for Rp 500,000 per ticket. As for the return trip, opt for the Argo Dwipangga train from June 18 to 25 at the same price.

Travelers from Semarang’s Tawang Station can use the Argo Sindoro train to reach Jakarta from June 9 to 14 with ticket prices at Rp 550,000. The return trip will be by the Argo Muria train from June 18 to 25 with similar ticket fare. Last but not least, the Sembrani train serves the Surabaya Pasarturi-Gambir route on June 9, 11 and 13 with prices starting at Rp 600,000. The same train also serves the return trip on June 19, 21 and 23 with the same ticket price.
