In a bid to reshape Bali’s tourism landscape, the Indonesian government, led by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, has announced an ambitious plan for 2024. The initiative encompasses both strategic tourism targets and a groundbreaking introduction of sea taxis, aiming to boost tourism by 15 to 20 percent.

As part of the revitalization plan, Western Bali is poised to take center stage. The serene districts of Jembrana and Buleleng, often overshadowed by more popular tourist destinations, will now be easily accessible through the newly introduced sea taxis. Travelers can anticipate a seamless journey to explore the untouched landscapes, authentic cultural experiences, and pristine beaches of these hidden gems.

Minister Sandiaga Uno emphasized, “In 2024, we target a 15 to 20 percent increase in tourist visits. Our focus is directed towards Western Bali, specifically Jembrana and Buleleng. With the introduction of sea taxis, we aim to make these serene districts more accessible, inviting travelers to explore their untouched landscapes, authentic cultural experiences, and pristine beaches.”

The sea taxi initiative extends its reach to Eastern Bali, presenting a convenient and picturesque mode of transportation to Bali Utara, Klungkung, and Karangasem. With this, travelers can effortlessly explore ancient temples, lush landscapes, and cultural hotspots in Eastern Bali. The sea taxi not only promises convenience but also a unique and scenic travel experience, adding a new dimension to exploring the island’s diverse offerings.

Beyond mere convenience, the sea taxi initiative aligns with Bali’s commitment to sustainable tourism. Minister Uno asserted, “By promoting water-based transportation, we seek to alleviate congestion on roads and minimize the environmental impact. This strategic move also holds the potential to contribute to economic equity by creating opportunities for local businesses and communities along Bali’s coasts.”

As the sea taxi initiative takes center stage, travelers can anticipate a more diverse and immersive Bali experience in 2024. Minister Uno concluded, “Our strategic targets aim to distribute tourist traffic more evenly, ensuring not only a more equitable distribution of economic benefits but also unlocking the full potential of Bali’s tourism landscape.”
