The annual Maybank Bali Marathon is set to return this year on Sept. 8. Taking place in the Bali regencies of Gianyar and Klungkung, the event’s registration will open online starting on March 28 at 1 p.m.
Similar to last year’s competition, this year’s race consists of four categories, namely the marathon (42.197 kilometers), half-marathon (21.097 km), 10k run and kids dash. Prices for the competition start at Rp 150,000 (US$10.57, for the kids’ dash).
The international-level race is said to be a collaboration between running coaches and participants, with the former in charge of providing training and giving tips for the event.
“Since we first organized the Bali Marathon in 2012, we’ve tried to accommodate the public’s interest in taking part in the race. It can be seen from the number of participants, which increases annually,” Widya Permana, project director of Maybank Bali Marathon 2019, said in an official statement.
Named one of the most “remarkable races in the world” and one that must be participated in “before you die” by The Active Times, the competition boasts a challenging route that highlights Bali’s wonderful landscapes and cultures, including its songs and dances.
