Share This Post:

Flower gardens are tourist destinations that are favoured by many today, as their bright colours make for attractive backgrounds for photos.

For residents of Klaten in Central Java and its nearby surroundings, there is no need to travel far to take pictures of such colourful stretches of flowers thanks to Kebon Asri Flower Garden.

Located in Kebon village, Kebon Asri Flower Garden is about 14 kilometres from Klaten, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from the city, according to kompas.com. Entry to the garden is Rp 5,000 (US$0.35) and visitors can enjoy a view of rows and rows of bright celosia, also known as the cock’s comb.

Standing tall along both sides of the entrance pathway, the celosia flowers immediately welcome visitors, providing a popular photo spot. A wider expanse of celosia stretches all the way to the back of the garden.

Windmills are among many of the garden’s decorations so, at a glance, the area resembles the Netherlands, which is famous for its tulip gardens.

The garden is a popular destination during long weekends and holidays. The rules applied on the grounds include no picking and damaging the flowers, as well as no littering.

Mornings and afternoons are the best times to visit the garden as the sunlight then is not too hot and it makes the flowers brighter and more attractive.

Currently, the celosia flowers are expected to still be in bloom for another month. During the dry season, they can stay in bloom for about four months. In the rainy season, they are in bloom for two to three months.

Kebon Asri Flower Garden is located near an attractive photo spot in Bukit Cinta (Love Hill), which is 3 kilometres away, or approximately a 10-minute drive.
