Indonesian Immigration Clarifies New Visa Changes for Tourists in Bali
Bali, Indonesia – June 16, 2025 – Indonesian authorities have recently clarified significant changes to the visa application process for tourists visiting Bali, aimed at simplifying the existing visa categories while addressing concerns over illegal activities among foreigners.
In a statement shared on social media, the Directorate General of Immigration confirmed that it will merge several visa classifications, specifically the indexes ranging from 133 to 110. This simplification is designed to help travelers more easily identify the appropriate visa for their needs, whether they are visiting for tourism, business, medical treatment, or government-related activities.
Streamlined Visa Process
Yuldi Yusman, the Immigration Directorate General, emphasized that the new changes will enhance the efficiency of the visa application process by reducing complexity and streamlining costs for applicants. "Indonesia’s updated visa classifications make it easier than ever to choose the right visa for your needs," the agency noted in its statement.
A notable addition to the visa categories is the newly introduced C7C index visa, intended for individuals participating in art and cultural activities, as well as those showcasing skills in non-musical fields. According to Yusman, this visa allows foreign nationals to express their talents in Indonesia, from magic shows to cooking demonstrations by chefs appearing on television.
New Investment Visa Options
In line with ongoing economic developments, particularly concerning the construction of Nusantara, the upcoming capital city in Kalimantan, Yusman also announced new visa indexes designed to attract foreign investment. The E28F visa index will cater specifically to investors interested in contributing to the new capital’s development, while the E28G index will facilitate foreign investors representing patent companies looking to establish branches in Indonesia.
Additionally, Yusman pointed out that the number of visa types available for foreign expert workers has been reduced from thirty-one to six. The previous twenty indices for corporate guarantors have been consolidated under the E23 index. Two new indexes, E23U and E23V, will be available for applicants from non-corporate organizations, broadening the scope for individuals looking to work in Indonesia.

Enhanced Visa on Arrival Procedures
The announcement comes as Indonesia has taken further steps to modernize its immigration services, especially since the reopening of borders following the pandemic. Recently, it was revealed that tourists extending their visa on arrival (VoA) will now use a ‘Hybrid Application System.’ This will allow users to apply online but requires them to attend an in-person appointment for document verification and biometric scanning, thus ensuring compliance with immigration regulations.
The voA, which costs IDR 500,000, is valid for 30 days and can be extended for an additional 30 days. The eVoA option is particularly popular among international holidaymakers traveling to Bali.
