Indonesian cosmetic brands are finally on the rise,
with a lipstick collecting trend among social media’s beauty enthusiasts for the past two years.
Here are our editors’ favorites.
Wardah
The brand that began the whole local-brand lipstick craze, Wardah, is not a new player in the beauty business. Its lipsticks come in several variants , including Matte Lipstick, Lip Palette, Exclusive Lipstick, Lip Balm, Wondershine, Hydrogloss, Lip Gloss and Long Lasting Lipstick.
Editors’ favorite:
Wardah’s Long Lasting Lipstick stole our attention as it lasts up to eight hours with minimum retouching. Its matte texture and pigmented colors ensures staying power, which is perfect for busy days, however tends to dry up so make sure you have a base lip moisturizer before applying.
Price range: Rp 30,000 ( US$2.27 ) – Rp 60,000
Purbasari
Also not a new player in the local makeup and skincare game, Purbasari got caught up in the lipstick craze between 2014 and 2015 with its star product, Lipstick Color Matte.
Editors’ favorite:
We’re into the Lipstick Color Matte variant due to its pigmented matte formula. Its matte texture does not dry up, however we would like to see more color variants.
Price range: Rp 30,000 – Rp 40,000
PAC
Coming from one of the most respected Indonesian cosmetics experts, Martha Tilaar, PAC is widely used by makeup professionals and day-to-day users alike. The brand has also collaborated with singer Krisdayanti in its lipstick line.

Its international appeal and upscale packaging usher PAC onto our list with its Glossy Lipstick collection. For a glossy line, the colors are surprisingly demure and the texture is soft, making them our go-to lipstick for daily use.
Price range: Rp 130,000 – Rp 150,000
Emina
Targeting younger beauty enthusiasts, Emina cosmetics has quite a few lip-color lines to choose from: Creme de la creme Lipstick, Emina Liquid, Emina Oh so Kissable!, My Favorite things lip color balm and Sugar Rush Lipstick.
Editors’ favorite:
We have a major crush on the Emina Color Balm and all of its six color variants — yes, we want more of those, please. Whenever you needed a touch of bright color, a single layer of this pencil-shaped lip color will do the trick.
Price range: Rp 48,000 – Rp 50,000
Mineral Botanica
A new player in the business, Mineral Botanica, also known among fans as Mica, apparently stole the show with its paraben-free claim and gained a new cult following.
Editors’ favorite:
We are torn between Mica’s Soft Matte Lip Cream and Vivid Matte Lipstick as both have soft textures and pigmented colors. It’s never a sin to combine, though.
