Praise to Indonesia for successfully holding the 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting didn’t just come from the foreign delegations, but also from foreign journalists. Generally, the journalists were impressed by the service and the hospitality when they were reporting the event Nusa Dua. They were left with the impression that Indonesia successfully transformed a very important meeting into a relaxing event.
“It was amazing. Peru (a previous holder of the meeting) and Indonesia are beautiful countries, but the services here were better than other countries,” said the El Economista journalist, Yolanda Morales, to bisnis.com on Sunday. El Economista is a Mexico based newspaper. The journalist, who also went to Annual Meeting in Washington said that she was surprised with the hospitality of the Balinese community. She said that they didn’t just share the information about the hotels and venues, but also the transportation method. They didn’t want her to get lost or take the wrong bus to the venues.
The committee also paid attention to the food, especially at the media center. “I was asked to eat continuously even though I was already full. I didn’t get this in Washington. Moreover, we can work until late night here. In Washington, we had to leave the media center at 5pm,” she added.
Another praise came from Vanguard journalist, Emanuel Ujah. Vanguard is a Nigerian based newspaper. He was amazed by the services from the hotel until the venues. “The committee gave complete information to make sure we didn’t get the wrong bus. It was different when I attended the meetings in Tokyo. We had to find the transportation ourselves when the meetings were over,” he said.
He also praised the venues on Nusa Dua ITDC. It was also different with the venues in Washington, because there were many trees on Nusa Dua ITDC area, and he felt relaxed because of it. He only complained about the food in the media center. “There was too much sugar in the food. However, if I had to give a rating, I would give 9. I want to buy batik, too. Your batik is beautiful and incredible,” he added.
