Amid increasing popularity of sports-related events in Indonesia, Bali is set to host a Cross Culture Cycling event on Nov. 19. Held for the very first time this November, the event aims to bring participants closer to nature.

“Cross Culture Cycling combines cycling with nature routes,” said Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) head of operations and commercial division Ferdiansyah Roestam as quoted by kompas.com. “Bali is synonymous with nature. Therefore, if a foreign country hears about Cross Culture Cycling, it would associate the event with Bali.”

Targeting 1,500 participants, the registration fee is priced at Rp 250,000 (US$19.18) per person, which includes a jersey, insurance and free entrance to GWK Cultural Park along with three guests.

“The competition features a 22 kilometer course with downhill and uphill routes. It will start at GWK and end at Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation [ITDC] in Nusa Dua,” added Ferdiansyah.

The committee plans to hold the cycling event annually as it is expected to help boost Bali’s tourism and local economy.
