All nature tourism parks managed by the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), including Mount Ijen, Mount Argopuro, Mount Arjuno, Mount Baung and the Tretes Nature Tourism Parks, are set to use an online ticketing system.
Kompas.com reports that, starting in April, visitors of one of those parks will be able to purchase their entrance tickets on the Ijen Blue Fire mobile application available on the Google Play market.
BKSDA head Nandang Pribadi said the online system aimed to provide a convenient traveling experience and lower costs.
“Those coming from other cities or countries can plan their trip more conveniently,” said Nandang.
With regard to cost efficiency, Nandang explained that the system would reduce expenditure for printing tickets and at the same time speed up the deposit process to the treasury’s account.
“If the transaction happens [today], the money will be transferred to the treasury’s account tomorrow at the latest,” he said.
The online ticketing system is currently in a trial phase. Should the system still contain bugs by the end of March, the agency would still provide offline tickets for visitors.
As for the quota system, Nandang said the agency had yet to decide whether it would limit the number of visitors or not.
