The district government of Banjarnegara, Central Java, is targeting 100,000 to 150,000 tourist visits in the Dieng Highlands Tourist Area (KWD Dieng) during the Idul Fitri holidays. Banjarnegara tourism and cultural office head Dwi Suryanto said to kompas.com on Monday: “This Idul Fitri holiday, which will be 10 days, we are targeting to have 100,000 to 150,000 visitors that will generate an income of Rp 1 billion.”
Dwi is optimistic that KWD Dieng will still be the motor of Banjarnegara’s tourism; therefore it is ready to receive visitors during the Idul Fitri holiday.
“We are making preparations in several places. The Cultural Conservation Office [BPCB] is also rehabilitating the Arjuna temple complex,” Dwi added, hoping that visitors will be comfortable during their visit, as there is also rehabilitation work going on in the Sembadra temple complex.
KWD Dieng will not feature any performances during the Idul Fitri week, as it wants to highlight its natural beauty.
“KWD Dieng is meant for nature tourism, so we will just give our best service to tourists. We are different from the Serulingmas Zoo, which is now managed by a private company. They will feature dangdut music and other performances,” Dwi said.
Other tourist destinations in Banjarnegara that are currently preparing to greet visitors include Curug Pitu, Pakisan and Tempuran hot springs.
