A PERTH man has been released from Bali’s Kerobokan jail after serving his brief punishment over a fatal motorbike crash.

Joshua Terelinck is expected to fly home to Australia on Tuesday night.

His stint in the prison was made eventful by a deadly gang fight last week.

“I was there and saw everything but for now I’ll just focus on getting home,” he told reporters.

The 33-year-old said he would first go to see his family, saying it all felt “a little bit surreal”.

“(I am) still not out of here yet but once I get on that flight I’ll be a lot happier,” he said.

“I couldn’t be happier, it’s a good day for me and my family.”

Terelinck was last week sentenced to two months and 15 days jail for negligent driving causing the July crash.

It meant he had only a few days to serve when taking into account time already spent in custody.

Local man Putu Agus Andryatna, 22, died after the accident and Terelinck paid $5500 to settle the matter with his family.

They did not want to press charges but police summonsed Terelinck and he returned to Bali because it was “the right thing to do”.

He told reporters on Tuesday he hoped to return to Bali again soon and visit the family, with whom he had continued a friendship.
