A 25-year-old Australian man has died in Bali after he fell through a glass window in his Kuta hotel.
Perth man Daniel Evans was taken to Sanglah hospital in Denpasar but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“He was drunk, he was trying to go to his room, he lost his balance and fell through the glass window,” said Kuta police chief Deddy Januartha.
“Security saw him and immediately asked his friends to help and took him to hospital.”
Sanglah forensic doctor Ida Bagus Putu Alit said the man arrived at Sanglah morgue at 3am on Thursday.
“At 3.10 we did a preliminary examination, we found bruises and wounds on his limbs, stomach and back,” Dr Alit said.
“As for the cause of death, we have to wait for an autopsy.”
Police had requested an autopsy but they were waiting on approval from the family through the Australian consulate.
“Daniel fell through a glass window … and cut him self [sic] up he lost a lot of blood and passed away,” Mr Evans’ friend Olivia Branson wrote on Facebook.
According to Ms Branson’s posts she was in Bali with Mr Evans when he died.
“RIP Daniel Evans … We had a beautiful day in Bali with you 🙁 … wish this never happened … Love you so much my brother hope ur okay up there,” Ms Branson wrote.
Another friend Natalie Graham, who is also in Bali, wrote on Facebook that the group of Australians would be coming home as soon as they could but were currently assisting police with their investigations.
Their Facebook posts suggest Mr Evans’ girlfriend, Chelsea Graham, is also in Kuta.
Another friend, Corey Grimshaw, told his Facebook friends that Mr Evans spent the “last of his time” in Bali getting tattoos.
It is understood the group had spent little more than a day in Bali after flying out of Perth on Monday.
