Ancol to Host Cultural Performances During Asian Games

Ancol will see a month packed with cultural events and performances during the Asian Games. Throughout the course of the 2018 Asian Games, Ancol Dreamland is set to transform its Festival Beach into an Asian-themed cultural festival. According to kompas.com, the performances include an arts show, a culinary bazaar and a lantern festival.

The Asian Lantern Festival, which starts this Friday and will last until the end of the Asian Games in September, is the highlight on the agenda. It presents unique lanterns based on the flags and landmarks of Asian countries, such as India’s Taj Mahal and Singapore’s Merlion.

Another highlight is the Asian Culture Show, to be held from Aug. 16 until Sep. 2, which will include a wide variety of performances. A traditional costume parade, a traditional dance performance and a culinary bazaar presenting food from around Asia will also be featured at the event.

Ancol Dreamland vice president Sunarto said that, through this event, Ancol was seeking to introduce the culture and cuisine of Indonesia to visitors. It was also a moment to present the different cultures of Asia.

“It is like a night of welcoming Asian cultures. We have invited many people and government officials to the event. The jet-ski and sailing athletes that we see here in Ancol are also invited,” says Sunarto.

Ancol will also host several sports of the 2018 Asian Games, and visitors who wish to see the Games can purchase tickets via the Asian Games’ official ticketing service.
