Yet another fire has struck Bali, this time hitting the homestays along Padang Padang Beach on the Bukit Peninsula yesterday.
Local Bali media has been slow to cover the fire, but images of the flames have been getting shared on Instagram and Facebook.
Bali expat Steve Palmer shared several photos and video to Facebook, writing that several warungs and homestays were taken out. The fire was able to spread quickly, as it jumped across the highly flammable alang-alang (thatched) roofs.
White Monkey Surf Shop also posted a picture of the fire going through Padang Padang/Impossibles.
This sort of fire is no doubt devastating on small business owners in the area, but at thankfully the local surf shop noted that no lives were claimed: “Everyone is safe and no one was killed or injured.”
