Bali Botanical Garden Sees Surge with 20,000 Visitors During Year-End Holidays
Tabanan, Bali – The Bali Botanical Garden in Bedugul, Tabanan District, experienced a significant increase in visitors during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holiday season, welcoming approximately 20,000 visitors. This marks a notable rise from the 12,000 visitors recorded during the same period last year.
Daily visitor numbers ranged between 3,000 and 5,000, with a peak of 10,000 visitors on January 1, 2026. This represents a 77 percent increase compared to the New Year holiday in 2025, according to I Dewa Putu Pasnadi Putra, the garden’s manager.
The surge in attendance was attributed to various holiday programs and public events hosted by the garden. From December 31 to January 4, the garden held a year-end bazaar featuring micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products, which concluded at 5 p.m. daily. Visitors also enjoyed artistic performances, sports and fitness activities, a flower-arranging workshop, and acoustic music shows.
Spanning 157.5 hectares in Candikuning Village, the Bali Botanical Garden has become one of the island’s prominent tourism attractions. Entry tickets are affordably priced at Rp15,500 (approximately US$0.92) on regular days and Rp25,500 (approximately US$1.52) during weekends and holidays.
Set at an elevation reaching 1,500 meters above sea level, the garden offers visitors a cool atmosphere and panoramic views, including that of Lake Beratan. Established in 1959, the garden serves multiple functions: as a conservation area for tropical plants from eastern Indonesia, a research and education center, and a recreational space. It is also renowned for its extensive collection of gymnosperms sourced from around the world.
