Bali Launches Single Digital Wallet for Tourists to Enable Seamless Mobile Payments
In a bid to enhance visitor convenience and accelerate the island’s shift toward a cashless economy, Bali has introduced an innovative payment solution for international tourists. The Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP), launched by Bank Indonesia, integrates a single digital wallet linked to QR codes, allowing travelers to pay effortlessly at restaurants, shops, hotels, and popular attractions across the island.
Simplifying Payments with the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack
The newly introduced ITTP combines multiple essential travel services into one easy-to-use package. It features a chip-based digital wallet connected to QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard), a local SIM card with data access, and a Bali-based phone number. With this system, tourists can make instant payments by scanning QR codes displayed at thousands of payment points, eliminating the frequent hassle of exchanging cash or navigating diverse payment methods unfamiliar to visitors.
According to Fillianingsih Hendarta, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, the initiative aims to reinforce Indonesia’s image as a welcoming and visitor-friendly destination. "Ease of transactions is an important part of the tourism experience in Bali," she stated at the ITTP launch event. The project reflects Bali’s commitment to embracing modern technology and providing a seamless travel journey for all guests.
On-the-Spot Assistance at Bali Airport
To facilitate a smooth adoption of this digital payment solution, Bank Indonesia has established a dedicated Tourism Information Centre at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali’s main international gateway. This center assists arriving travelers in setting up their digital wallets and offers the QRIS Nusantara Tourism Guidebook, a helpful resource outlining local businesses and attractions that accept QRIS payments.
By familiarizing tourists with the ITTP package upon arrival, Bali’s tourism authorities aim to integrate cashless transactions into visitors’ daily activities quickly and efficiently. This not only boosts convenience for tourists but also benefits local merchants through faster and more transparent payment processes.
Growing Adoption of QRIS Payments Across Bali

Throughout the first half of 2025, nearly one million merchants on the island began accepting QR payments, marking a significant increase in transaction volumes. Importantly, the adoption of QR code payments extends beyond Bali’s tourist hotspots. Small rural shops, family-run kiosks, and even temple vendors in cultural hubs like Ubud and Penglipuran now embrace QRIS, demonstrating the broad reach of Bali’s digital payment transformation.
