Foreign Tourists in Bali Urged to Carry Passports Amid Increased Visa Crackdown
Bali, Indonesia – Foreign visitors to Bali are being strongly advised to carry their passports at all times as local immigration authorities step up efforts to crack down on visa violations across the popular resort island. Videos released by Bali’s immigration office show officers conducting spot checks, stopping tourists to verify their travel documents.
This renewed push follows reports of a rise in immigration-related offenses earlier this year, prompting Indonesian officials to introduce stricter measures to monitor foreigners and ensure compliance with visa regulations. The increased enforcement is part of a broader campaign to uphold Bali’s reputation as a safe and secure destination.
Immigration Patrol Task Force Activated
Earlier this month, Indonesian authorities announced the deployment of an Immigration Patrol Task Force specifically dedicated to addressing illegal activities and immigration violations on the island. Comprising roughly 100 uniformed officers outfitted with body cameras and safety vests, the task force actively patrols ten key tourist hotspots including Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Jimbaran, and Nusa Dua Beach.
Minister of Immigration and Correction Agus Andrianto emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that the formation of the task force was in direct response to a directive from President Prabowo Subianto. The primary goal is to maintain stability and security in Bali, considered one of Indonesia’s premier tourist destinations.

In social media footage shared by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, officers can be seen approaching tourists along Nusa Dua Beach, asking them to present identification and travel documents. The videos clearly highlight the authorities’ commitment to ensuring all foreign visitors adhere to the island’s immigration laws.
Tourists are encouraged to comply fully with these checks by carrying valid passports and relevant visa paperwork at all times. Failure to produce the necessary documents could lead to fines or other legal consequences.
