Bali Police Enhance English Skills to Better Serve International Tourists

August 14, 2025 – Bali, Indonesia – In a bid to improve service quality and safety in Bali’s top tourist destinations, the Bali Regional Police have initiated specialized English language training for their officers. This move aims to enhance communication between police personnel and foreign visitors, ensuring a safer and more welcoming environment across the island’s bustling resorts.

Last week, dozens of officers participated in the English training program held at the Bali Regional Police Precision Building on WR Supratman Street. The initiative reflects the police’s commitment to readiness in managing challenges that arise in Bali, a major international tourist hotspot.

Inspector General of Police Daniel Adityajaya, Chief of Bali Police, officiated the training session alongside Deputy Chief Brigadier General Komang Sandi Arsana and other senior officials. Speaking to the attending officers, Inspector General Adityajaya emphasized the importance of effective communication in delivering public services, maintaining security, and fostering a positive experience for tourists.

“As a world tourist destination, Bali needs police officers who are not only professional but also able to communicate well with foreign tourists. This training is a strategic step to answer these needs,” he stated. Adityajaya further highlighted that improving language skills is integral to elevating the quality of police services to an international standard.

The training is part of a broader effort to address issues related to unruly behavior, criminal activity, and cultural disrespect among visitors, which have been a focus for multiple agencies on the island. Alongside the police, the provincial government, immigration authorities, tourism boards, and local pecalang (village security) are coordinating to uphold order and respect for Balinese customs.

Supporting these initiatives, Indonesian Minister of Immigration Agus Andrianto recently announced the formation of the Bali Regional Immigration Patrol Task Force (Satgas), comprising 100 officers tasked with rapid response to incidents involving foreign nationals violating laws or disturbing public peace. Equipped with body cameras, security vests, and official vehicles, these patrols operate in key areas including Canggu, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Sanur, Benoa, Uluwatu, Bingin Beach, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Ubud.

With these comprehensive measures, the Bali Regional Police aim to create a safer and more inviting atmosphere for the millions of tourists who visit the island each year, reinforcing Bali’s reputation as a world-class travel destination.
